Finance Factors, Hawaii’s largest locally-owned financial services companies, fired up woks on Friday morning to prepare more than 1,200 signature local-style breakfasts consisting of Kukui Brand Portuguese sausage, scrambled eggs and rice. The company, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary, hosted its 22nd Annual Finance Factors Charity Breakfast and raised $10,203 for the American Red Cross of Hawaii to support its mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and generosity of donors.

The popular annual tradition drew hundreds of people to the Finance Factors Center on Friday, and about 70 Finance Factors Family of Companies’ employees pitched in to set up for the event, cook meals and serve plates to the hungry crowd, all for a good cause.

“For 65 years Finance Factors has worked diligently to help generations of Hawaii’s families achieve their goal of home ownership,” said Steven Teruya, president of Finance Factors. “The Finance Factors Charity Breakfast is part of our continuing commitment to this community and we are proud to support the American Red Cross of Hawaii in its centennial year.”

“The American Red Cross of Hawaii greatly appreciates this generous gift of $10, 203 from Finance Factors,” said Coralie Chun Matayoshi, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Pacific Islands Region. “Finance Factors and American Red Cross are both recognizing milestone anniversaries this year, and there is no better way to celebrate than deepening our dedication to help support and strengthen the Hawaii community.”

Since the first Charity Breakfast in 1995, the event has served over 22,000 breakfasts and raised more than $155,000 for various local charities over the last 22 years, including Kupu, Pacific Gateway Center, Waikiki Health Center, Abilities Unlimited, Kau Kau Wagon, Lanakila Meals on Wheels and Aloha United Way.

Now in its 100th year, the American Red Cross of Hawaii has provided disaster relief, safety training, services to armed forces, international services, and community events and presentations throughout the state.
