Finance Factors, Hawaii's largest depository financial services loan company, today announced a donation of $20,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering life-changing, one-to-one mentorship programs to Hawaii's youth. Big Brothers Big Sisters programs have a proven positive impact in the areas of academics, socio-emotional and behavioral development, high school graduation rates, avoidance of juvenile delinquency and college or career readiness. The funds were raised through the fifth annual 2018 Finance Factors Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, which took place on Thursday, September 20 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club.

"We are very thankful for Finance Factors' support," said Dennis Brown, the president and chief executive officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii. "The monies raised from the Finance Factors Foundation Charity Golf Tournament help Big Brothers Big Sisters to further pursue its mission to change the lives of children for the better."

Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii has worked with the local community since 1963, partnering with schools, corporations, guardians, and others in the community to introduce positive and qualified role-models ("Bigs") with children ("Littles"), to create meaningful, impactful, and long-lasting relationships that benefit not just the children, but the volunteers as well.

"As a local company, Finance Factors is committed to supporting organizations that positively impact our community," said Steven Teruya, president and chief operating officer of Finance Factors. "This is the fifth year of our annual golf tournament and the final year in our five-year commitment to Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii. The proceeds raised is an important investment in children's lives and our future here in Hawaii."

This year, 158 players signed up to enjoy a day of golf, fun and local food. In addition to Teruya's famous burger-dogs (cheeseburgers in a hot dog bun), the event also offered the "Anda-Dog" (kim chee sausage from Kukui Sausage Company fried in andagi batter), and oyster shooters courtesy of Pagoda Restaurant.

The Finance Factors Foundation donates over $80,000 annually to charitable causes within Hawaii, specifically in the areas of youth education and development, sustainability and honoring Hawaii's history and culture. Established in 1952, the Finance Factors Family of Companies includes Finance Factors, Ltd., Hawaii's largest depository financial services loan company; Finance Insurance, Ltd., a full-service insurance agency; and Finance Realty Company, Ltd., responsible for the operational oversight of properties owned by the Family of Companies in Hawaii, Alaska, and California.
